Who is BRBO?

We are a small non-profit organization founded in (YEAR) in Mars Hill, NC, with the mission to promote conservation, education and appreciation of avian science in the Appalachians.

We conduct avian monitoring and education in the western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee areas.

Yes, we are a 501c3 organization run entirely by volunteers.

Yes! Our volunteers help collect data, check nest boxes, help out outreach team raise money, and educate the community about birds and bird life. We have volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups.

You can make a donation, write about us for your publication, use our research and data, invite us to speak to your community, become a volunteer, or follow us on Facebook.

Donations help support research on songbirds and birds of prey, and help us purchase equipment.

Invite us to provide a science talk or family science event for your community, collaborate with us on a science research project or use our data in your project, host a joint outreach event with us, or bring your volunteers to help collect data.
