Cowee 2012

Students examine male Indigo Bunting

Students from the Snowbird Cherokee Language School visited MAPS at Cowee Mound on June 20. Forty birds of thirteen species were captured and banded, including Cedar Waxwings, fledgling Orchard Orioles, and Blue-gray Gnatcatchers. Students enjoyed close-up views of a vibrant Indigo Bunting male before releasing it back into the Cowee habitat.
