Southern Appalachian Raptor Research operates three MAPS stations throughout western North Carolina. MAPS (Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship) is a nationwide program coordinated by the Institute for Bird Populations to monitor productivity, survivorship, and population trends of breeding birds throughout North America.
