Report a Bird Band
DIRECTIONS & Contact Info
For the past three years, fourth grade students from Evergreen Community Charter School in Asheville, NC visited Big Bald Banding Station during the fall migration banding season. The faculty of Evergreen and staff of Southern Appalachian Raptor Research (SARR) have created a collaborative Bird Unit which includes hands-on field studies and follow-up classroom activities. In 2009, students visited Big Bald twice and received several classroom visits from SARR. Following their visits to Big Bald, students created a Bird Guide, PowerPoint presentations, reflections on their trip, and graphs illustrating yearly numbers of birds banded.
